Grief is an inevitable part of the human experience, but is there a way to navigate it more effectively? Can we reclaim our lives and find peace after loss? Grief isn't a journey one chooses, but it is one that can lead to profound personal growth and transformation. We can’t change what happened but we can choose how we respond. In the latest episode of Emily Thiroux Threatt’s Grief & Happiness podcast, I had the honour of sharing my story and insights as a Grief Transformation Coach and the Founder of Handling Grief.
My journey into the world of grief transformation wasn't a straightforward one. It began with the unexpected loss of my brother when I was 30, which uncovered the unresolved grief I had carried since losing my mother at the age of 13. This experience was a wake-up call. It made me realise that time alone doesn't heal the pain of unresolved grief. It was through actively identifying and processing my unresolved grief that I found a path to moving forward after loss and reclaiming my peace, productivity, passion for life and purpose.
Drawing from my personal experiences and the lessons learned along the way, I developed the Handling Grief Programme—a step-by-step action-based approach to navigating grief. This episode is an opportunity for me to share the essence of this programme and the transformative power it holds for those struggling with loss.
Throughout our conversation, we talked about the fundamental differences between traditional grief counselling and the approach I use, highlighting the importance of acknowledging the unique nature of each grief journey. I also offer practical advice on supporting loved ones through their grief, emphasising the value of tangible support and meaningful gestures over well-intentioned but vague offers of help.
Moreover, I shed light on the importance of building emotional resilience for tough times and finding moments of joy in the middle of the pain and loss. I talk about the long-term impact of unresolved grief on one's life. We also explore the challenges of navigating grief in various areas of life, including the workplace.
Join me in this episode as we go on a journey of self-discovery and healing, and learn how to move forward after loss without spending years in pain and therapy.
